Packing for Residence

Whether you are starting to look into colleges or just about to move into residence developing a packing list of what you will need is a great idea for budgeting and organizational purposes!

The rooms in residence are most likely smaller than what you’re used to and clutter can pile up quickly! So, while making your list, you must keep in mind to only bring stuff that you need and scope out the type of storage available! If/when you have a roommate, try to contact them before move-in day to see who can bring specific items, this is so you don’t end up bringing the same things. Minimalism is key (within reason)!

Try to place things into categories. Categories can include things like kitchen/bathroom items, bed, study, and cleaning. It’s a good idea to have all these things planned in advance so that you won’t have to worry about going out and buying certain items your first couple of weeks. Making an early list also means you will be able to buy things when they are on sale saving you money!

We’ve come up with this list to help give you a head start on figuring out what you will need to bring:
